We have an opportunity for you to join our Finance team as a Financial Performance Analyst, working with our Waste Networks business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to come and work in a fast-paced business area, where in additional to the regular budgeting/forecasting and reporting activities, there are multiple projects and initiatives to manage to ensure we deliver the highest possible performance for value for money.
We’re looking for you to be an ambitious and dedicated finance professional to come and work in Waste Networks. This is a unique opportunity to come and work on a multi-functional operational business area, one of the highest profile area’s currently within Severn Trent.
As our dedicated Financial Performance Analyst, you will be accountable for delivering high quality financial information and data analytics to support every business decision. You will play an integral part in driving a strong business partnering culture to ensure that as a business we keep on track with our commitments. This role is unique in that you will deal with OPEX, IRE & CAPEX and through your analysis we’ll ensure that the business is on track with budgets.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Working as part of the Operations Finance team to deliver analytical and business decision support to the Waste Networks function.
  • Ensure that the operational teams have the right level of financial support and performance insight to deliver key business processes.
  • Support in the preparation of budgets and periodic forecasts for areas of accountability. Input to and evaluation of multi-year plan, annual budget and preparation of in year re-forecasts to ensure that the financial consequences of planned outputs are correctly reflected and balanced.
  • Ensure that the appropriate levels of controls exist to prevent control weakness in transaction recording and inaccurate reporting of results.
  • Developing a performance framework to ensure that the right measures are being focussed on to deliver the required level of business performance.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To be considered for this role, you’ll need:

  • Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA or CIMA
  • Substantial experience within Finance, including exposure to business operations
  • Demonstrable track record of taking the lead in diagnosing business issues and delivering performance improvements
  • Developing a performance framework to ensure that the right measures are being focussed on to deliver the required level of business performance.

In addition, you should have the ability to articulate a position and make recommendations which will enable leadership teams to make strategic and operational decisions based on reliable and accurate information. Having the ability to build strong and credible working relationships across the organisation is a must. You should be adept at influencing both at a senior level and front-line operations, being able to, guide and constructively challenge when required.
